Who We Are

We are a grassroot organisation formed by Brazilian women living in Ireland. Our group is the Irish chapter of the well-established NGO called Grupo Mulheres do Brasil ( translated as Women of Brazil), which is present in more than 20 countries, with over 115,000 women registered worldwide, in 40+ units.

At present, Grupo Mulheres do Brasil – Irlanda has over 400 volunteers registered. Our main goal is to support women from our community by providing them the mechanisms to thrive in their professional and personal development. Empowering and encouraging them to replicate actions that will benefit the society they live in.

Through our different committees, we have partnered with various sectors and associations to organise initiatives and implement projects in areas such as entrepreneurship, women’s rights, sustainability, culture and others.

  • We are feminists because we defend equal rights for men and women;
  • We fight for the end of violence against women;
  • We advocate for Human Rights in its totality, not as part of an agenda for the left or right-wing politics;
  • We stand for racial Equality;
  • We are against any form of discrimination whether is colour, race, origin, social class, sexual or religious beliefs;

We believe that the female force has the power to welcome, empower and transform the reality in which we live.

What We Do

We support Brazilian women in expanding their transformative force, by offering them mechanisms that can be used to positively impact their lives and the lives of other women, whether in Brazil or abroad.

We partner with various sectors of our society and associations to organise initiatives and implement projects in areas such as entrepreneurship, women’s rights, sustainability and others.

As an example, our project called SproutUp – a free entrepreneurial training and acceleration program that enables Brazilian women to develop their business ideas in Ireland –  has facilitated over 30 small businesses, run by Brazilian women, to flourish in the country.

Our group also stands out for the work we do assisting victims of domestic and gender-based violence, to navigate the system in order to have access to the support they need.
